Welcome to the ELVISDISCO website!

On this site you will find all information concerning the twelfth edition of the ELVISDISCO which will take place in Hollands finest and most famous rock and roll venue: The Cruise Inn, in Amsterdam. On Saturday June 27, 2009 an end will come to the longest running and most famous Elvis party of The Netherlands …Let it be clear that we pull out all stops for this final edition. Doors will open at 21:00 hours and close officially at 03:00 the next morning.

Ambition,

Time, work, family, dreams, hobbies and ambitions are the foremost reasons for me to put an end to organising the Elvisdisco in this format. I have had a wonderful time, which will be closed by a SMASHING PARTY! Now the time has come to “move on”, and I will do so with very fond memories of 12 marvellous parties.

Parties which did not go unnoticed. Dutch reviews of the Elvisdisco were featured in magazines, television broadcasts and on radio programmes.

Let me emphasize that it would not have been possible without the continuous support of the Cruise-Inn in Amsterdam. The crew of volunteers has been huge over the last 12 years. Bouncers, barmaids, barmen, cleaners, dee-jays, sound engineers, photographers, webmaster, poster designers, and many many others: A Big Thank You!

Personally, I will be by no means withdrawing from the Elvis World. But I will take a good look at which direction I want to go. Perhaps I will start writing reviews for some Elvis magazine. Or maybe start writing that Elvis book . Or is time finally ready for an Elvis choir? Only time will tell…
For the time being I am always prepared to share my knowledge with people who like to organize Elvis Parties. You can always approach me also via elvisdisco@hotmail.com when you want me to take care of the music at your party.

dress-code,

By popular demand we are using the theme of BLUE HAWAII again for the dance party. We would appreciate it if you would pay some ‘Hawaiian’ attention to your outfit. Think of Hawaiian shirts and big Hawaiian flowers as decoration.

El Rio Trio

The first band of the evening is the El Rio Trio (www.elriotrio.nl) from Holland who made their debut on the Elvisdisco stage four years ago. They have high regards for Elvis’s music witness the fact that they recorded ‘A Big Hunk O’Love’ and ‘Suspicous Minds’ for their most recent CD entitled “The Third One” ( on Tombstone Records). Earlier in their career they also cut ‘Burning Love’ and ‘His Latest Flame’. They are regular visitors who request the same songs every year: “Britches” and “Suspicion”! And who are we to refuse those requests?

Over the last few years these foursome from Amsterdam have developed from local heroes into a well respected band with national fame in the rock and roll scene. One of the pillars of their success are the harmonies. Their charismatic lead singer/guitar player Richard is an entertaining person who can captivate the crowd’s attention throughout the entire performance. We are looking forward to a fresh-and-fruity Elvis-set. Make sure that you are at the party before 10.00 pm because their performance will be the kick off to the live part of the evening.

Hullabaloo

Two years ago we finally succeeded in booking Hullabaloo for an Elvisdisco gig. It turned out into a night to remember! The band took us on a musical Elvis journey that started in the Fifties and ended in the Seventies. As their set progressed the confirmation only got clearer: These Guys Know Their Elvis!

Everyone agrees that Hullabaloo deserved the honour of ending 12 years of Elvisdisco.

The band has made it clear that they would love to play 2 Elvis sets of 45 minutes. A request that we welcomed open-hearted.

The popularity of this British band is huge! They played for instance in Sun City (South Africa), Disney Land (Paris) and the Jamira Beach Hotel (in Dubai). They also played at the wedding of TV-chef Jamie Oliver. (Speaking of Good Taste!!).
Besides the tight rhythm pace dominated by drummer Shaun O’Keefe and the swinging saxophone sound of Ivan Thompson the band rests upon two very strong pillars: guitarist Jim Knowler and bass player Jarrod Coombes. They know the secret of the fourth chord, in a world of the three chord rock and roll music!
Jim learned to play the guitar by listening to Eddie Cochran and Scotty Moore, and is currently being influenced by Django Reinhardt, Les Paul and Barney Kessel. Bass player Jarrod Coombes is besides an excellent and talented bass player also a fantastic singer. He never looses control over his powerful singing when things get rough on stage.

In the meantime the band has mentioned that they are looking forward to the ELVISDISCO. As I said before: this is the first (…and last…) time that the main attraction of the evening will play TWO entire sets of purely Elvis material. I do not say this very often, but make sure you don’t miss their performance! It is a one of a kind.

tickets

Fortunately we are able to maintain the entrance fee of last year at € 15. (Cruise-Inn members pay € 10). Tickets are only available at the door.
As I said, doors will open at 21:00 hours and a stall of The Elvis Corner (Utrecht) will be present. The music is in capable hands of specialised Elvis dee-jays who will spin the wax until 3 a.m
Last but by no means least: If you want ELVISDISCO #12 (THE FINAL EDITION!) to succeed, than please SPREAD THE WORD, or BRING YOUR FRIENDS.

It is appreciated!
Adios!
